The Belgian Laekenois is a very smart and obedient dog. They are serious and watchful with strong protective and territorial instincts. The Belgian Laekenois dog breed needs extensive socialization from an early age. The Belgian Laekenois dogs needs a firm, but not harsh, training method from an experienced master. If you are harsh or overbearing they will become uncooperative. The Laekenois dogs are instinctively protective so they should be trained and socialized very well from an early age. The Belgian Laekenois dogs make excellent police and guard dogs. This type of work is currently their main occupation. The Belgian Laekenois dogs make excellent pets. Ever-watchful, alert and loyal, they thrive on loving companionship. The Belgian Laekenois dogs are good with children if socialized well with them. The Belgian Laekenois needs to be part of the family and not locked up in a kennel. The Belgian Laekenois dogs does best given ample time, attention, training and companionship. If this breed is ignored, it will find ways to entertain itself, often at the owner's expense. The Belgian Laekenois has a lot of energy and needs a job to do. Good for working and competitive obedience. The Belgian Laekenois dogs is a very demanding dog. It needs an experienced owner and can easily be difficult to control unless the owner knows how to handle him. There can be wide differences in temperament and aggressiveness. Talk to someone experienced with the breed before you buy your dog. Although these dogs are often impressive, don't base your purchase solely on achievement records and appearances.  

Belgian Shepherd dogs is one of the  rarest of the four the Belgian Laekenois. Belgian Shepherd dog is a sturdy, well-proportioned medium-sized dog with a rough wire coat that easily distinguishes it. This dog breed was actually used as army dogs in the World Wars. The ears of the Belgian Laekenois are small, triangular, and set high on the head. The eyes are brown, average in size and slightly almond-shaped while the muzzle is of equal length to the top skull and somewhat pointed.
