Maggie
While
walking to the mail box, Janet met a man who was
walking a cute
Pug dog. She inquired and discovered
that the dog’s name was Maggie and the man’s name
was Dan Tolson. Dan and his wife Debbie live with
“Maggie Wiggle Butt” here in Petaluma Estates. Dan
was kind enough to share Maggie’s story with me.
This is how Maggie became a member of the Tolson
family.
Debbie
has a friend named Teri, who has a friend named Dot
who raises
Pugs and when one of them was due to
deliver a litter the friend called them. As soon as
the pups were whelped she called Dan and Debbie who
visited the new family and met Maggie who was barely
a week old. Maggie was the first female fawn colored
pup born and as theywere given the pick of the fawn
pups, they snatched her up. Dan and Debbie fell in
love with her because she had also had front paw
that was pink. The paw eventually became white but
that pink paw endeared the tiny pup to them and the
bond was set! Debbie paid for the pup by giving Pat
a perm and since then Dan says that Maggie owns
their household and barely tolerates him but adores
Debbie. Because Debbie works at Long’s Drugs as a
bookkeeper Maggie’s care falls mainly to Dan who
feeds and waters her and takes her for walks. He
also doctors her when she has health issues such as
infected ears.
Maggie
has a favorite toy that when bed time arrives, she
brings to Dan and Debbie and lays her head on it as
if to say that she is ready to retire when they are!
Then when they are all in bed she nestles down
between their two pillows and sometimes goes to
sleep cradled in Debbie’s arm. Maggie will be six
years old in August but is still lively and
mischievous. When I arrived to chronicle her story
she barked as I approached but soon settled down and
eventually brought me her toy for a game of tug of
war. She doesn’t like dog visitors and let’s them
know that they aren’t welcome. Dan say’s that when
Debbie comes homefrom work she greets her at the top
of the stairs energetically wagging her whole rear
end and that his how she acquired the nickname
“Wiggle Butt”. For those that aren’t familiar with
